Robin Shroot has been named in a Northern Ireland 18 man squad for an Under 21 International Challenge match against Scotland at New Douglas Park, Hamilton on Tuesday 18th November.

His call up as a Harrow Borough player means he will be alongside some of the most promising young Irish talent that have also been called up from Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland, Celtic, Rangers and a few Championship clubs.

I’m very pleased for Shrooty as he had a very difficult summer. Contractual problems from his previous club and a knee operation meant there was a degree of uncertainty about his football future.

Shortly after his operation he contacted me for some assistance so I referred him to Richard Smith; a rehabilitation specialist who has been helping me out at Harrow Borough when we were without a sports therapist.

Richard uses a cutting edge system of bioelectrical therapy and unique exercises that maximises the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Professional athletes in the USA and Europe to reduce healing time and maximise athletic performance use the system.

In football it is currently being used extensively in Italy’s serie A and now… Harrow Borough!!!! The collaboration of Shrooty's hard work and Richard’s expertise led him back to playing in record time: 6 weeks recovery took just 23 days…

As well as training at Harrow Borough Robin is also working very hard on a full time basis at Jamie Lawrence’s football academy to improve his all round fitness. Many professional footballers, especially during the summer, flock to Jamie’s academy to regain, maintain or improve their fitness.

As a result of Richard's and Jamie’s hard work Shrooty is even much stronger than before his surgery. He is absolutely destined to become a professional footballer and similar to Albert Adomah has made personal and financial sacrifices. He is willing to learn the game inside out and better himself as a player and a person.

Jamie has considerable influence on Shrooty concerning his football future and I believe together we will be able to get the best out of him especially in this period leading up to Christmas.

Unfortunately we see once again the unsavoury side of football, where Shrooty is being contacted directly by opposing clubs, as was the case with Albert Adomah.

After our draw at Tooting their management tried to lure him to join them in the dark of the car park and the following week as we were about to commence training he was contacted directly on his mobile, again without our permission, but this time by Wealdstone’s first team manager.

As a Manager it is very frustrating when these things happen but also very disrespectful to Harrow Borough FC.

At least Hastings after their victory against us in the FA trophy followed the FA rules and contacted the club to make clear their intentions off a seven-day approach but in truth all three clubs shouldn’t get there hopes up as Shrooty, his family, Jamie and myself know the future is considerably brighter for this Northern Ireland under 21 international.
