Traditionally it is a very hectic time for most clubs as they seek to assemble their first team squads.

My coach Ken Charlery and I had nearly 40 players for our first few sessions, while my Reserve Team Manager Stuart Crawford had in excess of 80 players when the first open trials were held…

From last years open trials we discovered several players including midfielders Kenta Nakashima and Clayton Dixon.

As the clubs finances will again be seriously limited it is also very important to have a network of contacts that continue to recommend and supply new players to Harrow Boro FC.

Most of last years squad have signed, although there have been some departures.

Tobi Jinadu the Supporters player of the year has left to sign for fellow Ryman League Premeirship team Kingstonian.

Two more players are on a two-week trial with clubs in higher leagues.

However Kenta Nakashima has decided to stay on for another season, while a couple of others have yet to return to training or to make contact.

Danny Leech and Dean Fenton missed the first week of training due to family holidays and Andray Baptiste is due to return from Grenada at the beginning of August.

Both Andray and Kurt Morlese will miss the start of the season as a result of suspensions carried over from last season.

Troy Hewitt is currently the only new signing and joins us from Ryman Div One side Ilford where he scored 13 goals in 37 matches and looks an exciting prospect.

We are away for most of our friendly matches and it all begins this weekend with a trip to Ryman Div One South team Goldaming.
The match kicks off at 1pm and is being played at Charter House School. Then matches at Hillingdon, Northwood and Three Bridges.
On Monday 2nd August our first home fixture against Championship team QPR kicks off at 7.30pm.

There is still almost 3 weeks to the start of our season so we have further matches against Potters Bar, Ware, Enfield Town, Brentwood and Corinthian Casuals.

On Tuesday 10th August in between the above friendly matches we will also play our only other home match with a visit from one of my former clubs Barclays Premier league team Birmingham City.
Their team will also include ex Boro striker Robin Shroot.

Hopefully Blues fans along with local QPR and of course new and old Harrow Boro fans will support both of these financially important matches for the club.
