| Harrow’s
four-match unbeaten run came
to an unhappy end at Earlsmead
on Tuesday evening. Hit by injuries
and second-best in all departments,
this was not the performance
that manager Edwin Stein will
have wanted four days before
a big FA Cup-tie. Furthermore,
it’s now five home games
since a Borough win, a sequence
that is beginning to look alarmingly
like last season’s.
Richard Clarke faces a few
games out after his injury on
Saturday, while Clemente Lopez
was not fit enough to start.
Fit-again Davis Haule regained
his place in midfield, while
Daniel Dyer came in at right
wing-back.
Harrow started encouragingly
enough and in the 6th minute,
Michael Jatto’s far-post
cross picked out Richard Goddard,
who headed down to John Lawford.
He turned sharply but saw his
shot cleared of the line. But
it was to be Harrow’s
last chance for a considerable
time, as the visitors began
to dominate. Haworth gave a
warning in the 12th minute when
he just failed to connect with
Gallagher’s free-kick,
and Keita Karamoko then had
to save Ofori’s glancing
header. In the 28th minute,
Perry Norman gave Karamoko an
awful bouncing back-pass that
the keeper could only deflect
for a corner. The kick was only
half-cleared, and Forbes blasted
a 20-yarder back into the Harrow
net.
Pat Gavin headed wide from
Lawford’s corner, and
Goddard just failed to connect
with Gavin’s far-post
cross, but Hendon continued
to have the upper-hand, with
Ofori shooting across goal and
Haworth brushing aside Norman
to shot over.
The second half opened disastrously
for Borough. Haule miskicked
on the edge of his own penalty
area after 49 minutes, and the
waiting Ofori did not need a
second invitation to rifle in
the second goal.
Haworth lobbed over the Harrow
bar, and Ofori had a shot saved.
At the other end, Robert Charles
flicked Lawford’s corner
across the face of goal, without
a colleague on hand to apply
the final touch. Gallagher forced
a save from Karamoko, before
Hendon made it three in the
77th minute. Gallagher crossed
from the left, and Haworth’s
header was well-saved by Karamoko,
but Ofori was on hand to bundle
in the loose ball.
Straight from the kick-off,
Harrow hit back, with Lopez
cutting in from the left to
hit a shot across Hook and in
off the far post. But it was
to be but a consolation, and
further woe for Borough fans
was the sight of Dean Marney,
Clemente Lopez and Perry Norman
all limping off at the end.
With Richard Clarke and Adam
Everitt already sidelined, defensive
injuries are the last thing
Harrow need right now. |
