Richard
Goddard - only goal of
the night |

| Borough put
Saturday’s FA Cup woes
behind them with a splendid
team performance at Aldershot.
Against a team that had won
its last eight matches, Harrow
grew in confidence as the game
went on and won with a 70th
minute Richard Goddard goal.
Shots’ Moody lashed the
ball over the Harrow bar after
14 minutes as the home side
looked to build on their recent
form. When Bull saved Goddard’s
header, the home side broke
upfield quickly and Taylor shot
past the post. Holsgrove fired
over the bar and Roddis glanced
a header across the goal, but
late in the half Harrow might
have gone in front, when a nice
one-two between Pat Gavin and
Robert Charles freed Daniel
Dyer to run into the box and
shoot past the near post.
Early in the second half, Holsgrove
had a shot deflected wide, and
a header saved by Keita Karamoko,
but with Gavin, Dean Marney
and debutant Jimmy Aggrey coping
comfortably with those few attacks
that were getting past the harrying
Wayne Walters and Ross Fitzsimon
in midfield, Harrow began to
look threatening. Bull made
a good save from a John Lawford
free-kick, and when Fitzsimon’s
through-ball sent Goddard through
on goal, he shot just wide.
Lawford then hit a 30-yard free-kick
past the post.
A strong Goddard header forced
Ready into giving away a 70th
minute corner. Goddard met Lawford’s
kick with a tame shot, but Aggrey
caused a distraction just in
front of the goal-line, waving
his foot over the ball, and
the ball trickled in past Bull
and a defender.
Aldershot were stung into some
attacking, but the Harrow defence
stood firm and Karamoko had
relatively little to do. Dyer
and Clemente Lopez worked very
hard on the flanks, but generally
the home side were trying to
attack through the middle and
failing to breach the Harrow
central defence. In fact, the
visitors now posed more of a
threat. Lawford shot over when
set up by a Robert Charles header,
and Charles then forced a save
from Bull with a shot from the
edge of the area.
Karamoko was forced to make
a fine save from Gell, but into
injury time Harrow should have
doubled their lead when the
Goddard-Lawford combination
set up substitute Godfrey Torto,
six yards out in the centre
of goal, but his shot allowed
Bull to dive to his left and
save.
Borough now need to take their
good away league form onto the
field at Earlsmead, and have
an early opportunity this Saturday
when Ford United are the visitors.
