Davis
Haule, twice on the scoresheet |
|
| Boro’
earned themselves a Middlesex
Senior Cup Quarter Final trip
to either Ashford Town (Middlesex)
or Southall Town with this comfortable
5-1 victory at Spartan South
Midlands Leaguers, Hanwell Town.
In a fairly even first half
Boro’ were put under some
early pressure by their hosts
and Keita Karamoko required
treatment as early as the 2nd
minute after a challenge by
Victor Asombang.
Boro’ appeared to be
on orders to shoot on sight
and Darty Brown was just wide
with an effort from 20 yards
before Daniel Dyer brought out
a good save from home custodian
Simon Pratt.
It was against the run of play
that Hanwell took the lead when
a Jason Tucker shot from 20
yards deceived Karamoko and
skidded into the net after 35
minutes.
Kevin McKenna had a shot saved
and Karamoko tipped a good effort
from Warren Williams over the
bar before Boro’ equalised
in the 40th minute. Good work
down the right between Dyer
and McKenna saw Davis Haule
rising bravely under pressure
from the home ‘keeper
to level the scores with a fine
header.
Boro’ started the second
half the much stronger of the
two sides and it was not long
before they took the lead when
after 50 minutes the home defence
failed to clear a left wing
cross from Fabio Valenti and
Davis Haule scored from 10 yards
with Pratt well beaten.
It was 3-1 three minutes later
when another left wing cross
found Kevin McKenna after a
miskick by the home defence
and the midfielder scored with
a left foot drive from 10 yards.
Five minutes later Fabio Valenti
made it 4-1 after good play
by Daniel Dyer on the right
flank.
It was now all Boro’
and a mazy run by substitute
Eseyas Yhdego saw his effort
hit the post before Valenti
hit home the re-bound, only
for the “goal” to
be disallowed by referee Steven
Nicholson for offside.
Time and again Boro’s
attacks on goal were thwarted
until in the 85th minutes Darty
Brown made it 5-1. He started
on a run which took him past
a number of defenders and through
the home defence and round ‘keeper
Pratt before stabbing the ball
home for his second such goal,
in consecutive cup fixtures.
