ensured that Harrow would still
be playing Premier Division
football next season. And they
can be thankful that Heybridge
and Chesham were both held to
draws, for their own run of
good form has come to an abrupt
end, with few signs in a disappointing
second-half performance at the
Top Field that it is going to
restart.
After his nightmare at Hayes,
Matthew Ferguson was replaced
in goal by Keita Karamoko. The
Malian international gained
some early confidence with a
dive to his left to keep out
Bridge’s header after
a run and cross by Bone.
Harrow then played well for
the rest of the first half,
making light of a bumpy pitch
that made good passing difficult.
Pat Gavin’s burst down
the right ended in a cross that
went just in front of Robert
Charles. James Osborn then had
a 20-yard shot saved by one-time
Harrow custodian James Robinson.
Clemente Lopez released Charles
who cut in from the left and
hit a shot that was blocked.
Kevin McKenna hit a long-range
shot past the post and Osborn
had another 20-yarder held by
Robinson.
Borough threatened early in
the second half when Osborn’s
cross-field ball picked out
Lopez on the left wing. He cut
in and hit a right-foot shot
that Robinson dived to save.
The game’s only goal came
in the 56th minute. Richard
Clarke allowed Evans to get
past him and pull the ball back
from the by-line for Parker
to fire home from close range.
Borough brought on Brain Haule
and Eseyas Yhdego in an effort
to salvage a point. Haule beat
Robinson to Fabio Valenti’s
cross but his header fell short
of the target. Yhdego then crossed
from a prone position for Osborn’s
shot to be blocked. Hitchin’s
Brennan then tried to lob Karamoko
from 45 yards and was unlucky
that his effort beat the Harrow
keeper but bounced over the
bar. Finally, Marvyn Watson
cleared after Karamoko’s
clearance hit Osborn on the
back.
