| Boro’ lost their
opening fixture in the Capital League to a strong
Woking side by 2-4.
Boro’ matched their Nationwide Conference
League opponents during the early stages as the
ball moved rapidly from end to end. Michael Currie
went close on two occasions for the home side
whilst Grant Payne and James Bracken were impressive
for the visitors.
The turning point for the game however revolved
around an injury to Boro’ keeper Keita Karamoko
who sustained a rib injury after 35 minutes which
severely impaired his movement and contributed
in no small way to Woking scoring twice in the
40th and 41st minutes.
Firstly Keita was beaten by a powerful shot from
James Bracken which he was unable to get down
to quick enough and then he was beaten by a close
range effort from Chris Sharpling
Boro’ opened the second half sharply and
reduced the arrears after 60 minutes when substitute
Clemente Lopez slotted home after good work by
Currie and Valenti.
Keita’s restricted movement enabled Tinoi
Christie and Craig Parrington to extend the visitors
lead in the 65th and 75th minutes respectively.
The final goal seeing the Boro’ being reduced
to 10 men as Keita was clearly unable to continue
and was replaced in goal by centre back Oliver
Lyons.
Boro’ more than held their own after that
and Daniel Dyer reduced the arrears in the 90th
minute when he fire home after and impressive
right wing run.
