| Boro' won this entertaining
Capital League Fixture against a youthful Aldershot
Town team, captained by the highly experienced
Martin Kuhl.
Boro' opened the scoring in the 18th minute when
good work by Fabio Valenti on the right saw him
wrong foot the defender and cross for GODFREY
TORTO to head home from close range. Boro' increase
their lead on 37 minutes after FABIO VALENTI was
put clear of the visiting defence and chipped
over the advancing keeper.
Aldershot reduced the arrears within a minute
when Powell was harshly adjudged to have brought
down Thompson in the box. MARTIN KUHL scored with
the spot kick. On 43 minutes the scores were level
when Mark Richards broke free of the Boro' defence
to cross for the impressive MARK THOMPSON to head
home by the far post.
Boro' regained the lead again in the 57th minute
when a shot from COREY ELLIS took a wicked deflection
to take the ball past the wrong-footed visiting
keeper. On 85 minutes it was 3-3 when PAUL ANDREWS
headed home a free-kick from Kuhl.
Boro' scored what proved to be the winning goal
after 88 minutes when Fabio Valenti, not for the
first time, found the Aldershot defence wanting,
setting up YURI FECA to net his first goal for
Boro'.
The final result was a 4-3 victory for Boro',
and their first points of the season in what was
a very competent performance.
