The Report

Boro' continue their unbeaten pre-season run with a 1-1 draw in this friendly against a Chelsea XI.

Manager Edwin Stein used 23 players in this friendly against a young Chelsea side which included Craig Rocastle, the of David Rocastle in what proved to be a good work-out for the Earlsmead side.

In what proved to be a deadlocked first half, neither 'keeper was overly troubled, but both defences had to work hard to keep their goals intact.

The deadlock was broken in the 59th minute when Abdul Yoki beat visiting 'keeper Lenny Pidgeley to the ball and took the ball round the haplesss custodian to hit home into an empty net.

The lead was shortlived however with Michele Gallaccio hitting home via the head of Phil Gridelet in the 61st minute after slack defending by the home side.

Keita Karamoko was called upon to save well for Boro' on a number of occasions and was kept particularly alert with a couple of poor back passes from his own team.

The 1-1 scoreline yet more encouragement for the Boro' fans which has seen their favourites win 3 and draw 2 of their opening 5 matches. The only sour note was the knee injury to Perry Norman which saw him being carried from the field.
