| The weekend saw us travel the long journey to Margate and the 0-0 score line was a repeat of the earlier encounter at Earlsmead.
The only winner on the day was definitely the conditions and on a bitterly cold day with a very strong wind blowing for most of the afternoon it proved to be very difficult match for both sides and not really that entertaining a spectacle for the 500 plus crowd.
I was pleased with what I felt was a solid performance and my team showed diligence and strength in achieving another clean sheet and although we had several chances to win the match a draw was probably on reflection a fair result.
Clemente Lopez had a weekend off from his new job on the south coast and contacted me to come and watch the lads.
I told him to bring his boots and although he hasn’t played any football since December I made him one of the five substitutes and it was great to see him back in the squad.
I would also like to thank Gordon Lack for arranging our pre match meal at The Red Lion just outside Faversham as it helped to break up the journey and for the team to spend time together and prepare for the match in a professional manner.
On the Playing front
Romain Le Roux and Ross Fitzsimon, if he can get away from work in time, will be involved against Staines.
Wayne Walters will not be fit for the Middlesex Senior Cup Quarter Final against Staines and James Bent, Brian Haule, Elliot Onochie, Danny McGonigle and Danny Leech all received knocks and decisions on these players will be left to as late as possible. This has almost become par for the course in the preparation for our matches in the last few weeks.
Marvin Neufville's and Daniel Dyer's injuries are taking a little longer to clear up but on a brighter note Victor Asombang should return to the squad a couple of weeks ahead of schedule and will probably take a more active role next week.
