Wayne Walters deservedly took all three main awards of Supporters', Vice Presidents' and Players' Player Of The Year, at our recent Presentation Night.
I contacted Wayne the following day as he deservedly lay on a beach in Spain and confirmed to him what some of his teammates had already told him by text messaging on the night.
He was easily my most consistent player throughout the season and thoroughly deserved all of his awards.
In his first full season as Captain taking over from the injured Dean Marney he excelled in this leadership role.
I reverted him back to the centre of defence from midfield and his positive and dominating influence was instant.
Throughout the season Wayne had various central defensive partners in Perry Norman, Marvin Neufville, Daniel Nielsen and Ricky Browne but whoever he partnered I always knew what to expect from Wayne and he always delivered.
I was very pleased with the overall performances of my First, Reserves and Youth teams. Youth team coaches Vernon Dickinson and Roy Coleman are both very positive about next season and the crop of promising and exciting prospects, which include central defender and Player of the year Jack Horsely and Roy's own son and striker Nico Coleman who managed a few appearances for the Reserves at the end of the season and will be looking to finish even higher than their fourth place league position.
Reserve team coaches Peter Grant and Stuart Crawford are also looking forward to working hard next season with their very young Reserve squad and just missed out at the final hurdle of possibly winning the Capital League. Goalkeeper Gary Ross, defender Jamie Diston, midfielder Kai Williams and striker Leon Morris are just some of the players who have done exceptionally well for most of the season.
I will be keeping an eye and liase very closely with the respective coaches on the progress of all the players in both Youth and Reserve teams including defender and singer Kevin Wynter who surprised the karaoke DJ and everyone still at the presentation by an unbelievable live singing performance sounding very similar to pop star Lemar.
First team players have had one further training session before we break completely for the summer to watch the World Cup, returning on Tuesday 4th July to begin pre season training and our campaign for the 2006/07 season.
I would sincerely like to keep all of the first team playing squad but I am realistic enough to know that this might not be possible for numerous reasons.
I was pleased to see at the end of the season the return of two of our serious long-term injured players Jonathan Constant and Kwasi Frempong. Both have been improving really well and will have to continue to work very hard in the close season.
Dean Marney, last season's Club Captain has an even tougher time ahead of him this summer after his successful double knee operation. Deano missed the whole of last season apart from one run out in the Reserves.
If we go back to this time last year things were looking very promising for Deano with a possible move to Watford FC. A year later and Watford are a Premiership side and I hope this will serve as a positive motivational tool for Deano as he was training with the very same Watford players that have achieved in one year under Adrian Boothroyd, Premiership status.
I think this past year's experience has also served to make Deano even more determined to make a full recovery and to remind people of his tremendous ability, although realistically he has some important and essential rehabilitation work to do before he can start to think about coming back to full training with the Harrow Borough First Team squad.
With this in mind I have managed to arrange some rehabilitation time at David Lloyd Leisure in Sudbury Hill and I would like to thank an old friend Oliver Chandler who has helped to make this arrangement possible. I hope that this will be the beginning of a fruitful and ongoing working relationship between the two clubs.
This partnership will allow Deano to use facilities that are modern with state of the art equipment in a first class gymnasium with access to swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms that will also help him trim down from his newly found 17 stone frame.
Our Sports Therapist Jenny Mullen will be there to oversee a very strict rehabilitation-training programme, which was devised by John Green, the ex-West Ham United FC Physiotherapist.
John also ensured that Deano’s operation was performed by one of the best knee surgeons in the UK and we are very grateful as this surgeon also looks after Jose Mourinho's multi million pound array of Chelsea football stars.
