James Bent has turned down the opportunity to join Ryman league Premier local rivals Hendon FC.
Hendon manager Gary McCann submitted a seven-day approach almost two weeks ago and despite Benty being offered an improved financial package by Hendon after careful deliberation he has decided to stay and commit himself to Harrow Borough for the rest of the season.
I am very pleased Benty has arrived at his decision. At only 26 years of age he is one of my senior and experienced players and it is great news for everyone at Harrow Borough. He has played in numerous positions and I might even have another position for him as his understanding, knowledge and all round game continue to improve.
Several non-league clubs have also shown an interest in Elliot Onochie. Elliot has only just returned from a long lay off due to injury and work commitments. In the last two months he has only played two matches but is still a player that is very much in demand.
The recent bad weather has not helped him to improve his match fitness but he is working very hard on his overall fitness.
At a time when results have not been going our way and of course with our current financial position it would have been easier and understandable if both these players decided to leave for improved wages.
I am extremely pleased at the moment that they have both decided to stay and continue to play for Harrow Borough.
I am also pleased to report that young Goal keeper Gary Ross who broke his ankle back in November came out of plaster today and starts his rehabilitation immediately. It has been a very difficult time for Gary but I feel he has had time to reflect while in plaster and prioritise things in his life better.
Damaged knee ligaments will keep a frustrated Kai Williams out of contention for the next two weeks.
Last week I submitted two seven-day approaches for a midfield player and a striker. Hopefully more news on these soon.
