Albert Adomah's return to Earlsmead on Wednesday night ended in a comprehensive win for the League Two side. Adomah, captain for the night, did his utmost to get on to the scoresheet, but to no avail.
Manager David Howell was pleased with the evenings work-out against a full Barnet first team.
"I thought it took us a while to settle and as a result we started off a bit slowly and kept giving the ball away unnecessarily. At this stage ironically young keeper Gary Ross kept us in the game with a number of very good saves including one from a penalty.
"However after taking the lead we gifted Barnet three goals in as many minutes shortly before half time. We needed to collect ourselves during the interval.
"I also made a few changes to the line up and was very pleased in the end with the way my players responded especially after conceding those very soft goals given away earlier. Both teams were committed but the match was played in an excellent spirit.
"It was great to see some old friends and especially Albert Adomah back at Earlsmead. Hopefully Barnet will come back to play us again next year in another pre season friendly. I wish Albert and Barnet FC good luck for the forthcoming season.
"On Saturday we travel the short distance to AFC Hayes (3pm K.O) and then on Tuesday to Chesham (7.45pm K.O) as we continue with our pre season preparation. Our next match at Earlsmead will be against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday 13th August kick off 7.45pm." |
