FOREIGN
INVASION OF EARLSMEAD
by
Lawrie Harries
Last
Saturday Boro not only entertained the supporters of Billericay
Town, our opponents on the day, but a noon kick-off meant the Club
was also delighted to welcome visitors from Germany - who had come
for the international at Wembley - and supporters of Leigh RMI who
were playing at Hayes in the afternoon.
Our
new friends from Germany - Nuremberg to be precise - were treated
like royalty. At least the Club Shop was opened especially for them
where they bought a couple of mugs - and before you say it no, that's
not Tim and Tony!
The
supporters of Conference-based Leigh RMI wanted to buy Exxie but
they were told he's not available at any price. An example of the
family of football support-ers getting together amicably. Pity the
small group of morons who purport to be England supporters did not
show the same level of courtesy to their guests at Wembley. Why
is it that these people believe that to support your own team you
have to abuse the opposition, it's national anthem and flag?
